On Sunday morning more than 80 riders joined the Maccabi Cycling Club for a 50 km ride created by John Gould. This bespoke trail took riders through backroads, wetlands and over number of bridges as a fundraiser in support of the RAMBAM HOSPITAL’s research into sudden cardiac arrest. The ride was kicked off at the Maccabi offices by local member David Southwick, and the Ambassador of Israel Mark Sofer who also rode to help raise funds for this amazing hospital in the North of Israel.

At the brunch the Ambassador, a passionate supporter of the RAMBAM HOSPITAL said,

"Rambam is one of the great hospitals of Israel and serving two million residents, it provides healthcare for almost a quarter of Israel's population. Indeed, its centrality in the wellbeing of our society is almost unsurpassed. As the largest hospital in the north of Israel, it has a unique responsibility at times of heightened security tension in the region and in recent years and given its proximity to the human tragedy of the Syrian civil war, its importance has grown exponentially."

"On a personal note, I have a special affinity to Rambam, as two of my grandchildren were born there! I'm truly glad to be able to make a contribution to this wonderful medical institution."

Rambam Health Care Campus has always fostered a multidisciplinary approach toward patient care. This is particularly critical for cardiovascular diseases. The Funds raised will help heart patients to benefit from having all clinical and surgical treatments and healthy living programs—including patient counselling and rehabilitation—under one roof—the Eyal Ofer Heart Hospital.

A special thanks to the Australian Friends Rambam, Maccabi Victoria and Maccabi Cycling friends and volunteers who made this collaboration possible.
